Home to School Connection: Engaging the Modern Family (webinars and assignment)
Learning Level 1: Introductory/Awareness
Intended Audience – Administrators, ECSE/General Educators, Paraeducators, Family Educators, Psychologists, Social Workers, SLPs, OT/PTs, Early Intervention
Description – Strong family partnerships require more than just communication tools—they thrive on trust, reflection, and cultural responsiveness. In this interactive two-part series, early childhood educators will move beyond “sending information home” to build authentic relationships where every family feels valued, respected, and empowered. Through storytelling, deep reflection, and collaborative problem-solving, participants will examine how personal identity, differing abilities, and systemic barriers impact engagement. We will place a special focus on partnering with families of children with disabilities, ensuring educators know how to navigate IEP/IFSP journeys alongside parents as true allies, honor parental expertise, and create deeply inclusive community spaces. Together, we will develop practical, responsive strategies to seamlessly support all children across both home and school settings.
