This book centers around the little girl, Marta. “To a bug, Marta is grande. Big, very big.” Marta is compared to many animals. This simple story introduces words such as big in Spanish. This book is considered a “bilingual read-aloud” which demonstrates and identifies opposites along with very simple words in Spanish.
I think this short, simple book really has a lot to offer young children. I see it as a read-aloud, but it could be used with very young children who speak English or Spanish to learn animal names. There is a glossary in the back with Spanish and English words for the animals and the descriptive words such as slow and fast.
