The Pout-Pout fish takes his name very seriously, using it as an excuse to spread “dreary-wearies”, until a special friend comes along and sees him in an unexpected way. This book reinforces that emotions can change, as well as the fact that people (or fish) can view the same situation or feeling differently. I will give a little spoiler that the pout-pout fish becomes a kiss-kiss fish, so it will also provide the opportunity to talk about how to appropriately show affection to our friends and family. The rhyme and repetition in the book provides opportunity to build on children’s literacy skills in a silly way.  The Pout-Pout fish is a fun and quick book that will reinforce various skills for a child in preschool or younger.
