Authors: DeShanna Neal and Trinity Neal

Illustrator: Art Twink

This is a story of love, acceptance, and advocacy in written form for children to understand and engage in conversations. Specifically, this is the story of Trinity, a Black transgender girl who is on the autism spectrum. Throughout the entire story Trinity is waiting for her hair and could not find a wig that was “her”. So, her mom made her a beautiful rainbow wig that represented who Trinity was and wanted to show the world.

As is evident from the authors’ names, this story was written about Trinity by Trinity and her mom. This is a book that fully shows representation of multiple identities and the love played out in real-life experiences in a family that is accepting gender expression diversity. This is a great book to use as a way to introduce or engage in terminology such as cisgender and transgender.
