Accessible Family Yoga and Mindfulness

Learning Level 1: Introductory/Awareness

Intended Audience – ECSE/General Educators, Paraeducators, Family Members, Family Educators, Psychologists, Social Workers, OT/PTs, Early Intervention

Description – Participants will learn and be able to apply basic yoga and mindfulness practices with their children and develop an understanding of the research on how mindfulness based strategies can improve self-regulation, confidence, and body awareness for young children, including young children with disabilities. Participants will also explore multisensory breathing techniques that can be used across multiple settings and scenarios, as well as self-care strategies for caregivers.

Continuing Education
This event does NOT provide any formal continuing education credit, such as CPDUs, CE credit, or EI credit. Certificates will not be issued.

  • Lindsay Meeker
    Dr. Meeker is Director for the Center for Best Practices in Early Childhood Education and Professor in the School of Education at Western Illinois University. She has spent time as teacher of multilingual learners grades K-2, Director of Multilingual Learners, Special Education Director, Early Childhood Director, English Language Development Coach in Dual Language (8-12), High School Special Education Teacher, and Community Childcare worker.
