Pyramid Model of Social Emotional Support Cohort Series (completion of e-modules, including assignments, and six webinars)
Learning Level 2: Intermediate/Application
Intended Audience – STAR NET provides Pyramid Model training for District funded programs, ISBE funded programs including Preschool for All, Preschool for All Expansion, and Early Childhood Special Education. Only registrations from professionals working in these programs will be accepted. If you are employed by a childcare program not receiving ISBE funds, please contact your local Child Care Resource and Referral Agency for Pyramid Model training options. If you are employed by Head Start, please contact your professional development department for Pyramid Model training options.
Description – The Pyramid Model is a scientifically based positive behavioral framework that promotes evidence-based practices to teach social emotional competencies to young children. The framework identifies key skills for supporting relationships, creating learning environments, teaching targeted social emotional skills, and supporting children with challenging behavior. Registrants will view the three Preschool training modules of the Pyramid content and the associated lessons with each module on their own. An agenda will be provided to inform participants regarding which lessons will be reflected on during each group-facilitated meeting, with a focus on reflection and application of the content in the modules. Credit for full participation will include 27 hours of credit for viewing these eModules and participating in six group cohort discussions, each 1.5 hours in length. No partial credit will be given. Full attendance at each cohort session is required in order to receive credit. To learn more about the Pyramid framework, go to www.pyramidmodel.org. PFA/PFAE funded staff attending will be provided with a license for access to the modules once accepted into the training. Programs without PFA/E funding may access funding via the STAR NET Region I and III professional development process to offset the cost of their purchase of the modules, or local funds may be used. Cohorts will be small to encourage conversation and interaction, therefore, limited slots are available. Prior to each cohort webinar, participants will: 1. Complete the designated ePyramid module lessons. 2. Complete the items on the checklists at the end of the ePyramid lessons. 3. Be prepared to discuss and reflect on the content during the cohort webinars.
Continuing Education – This webinar will provide 27 contact hours for the following:
- Educator License Renewal
- CDA (Child Development Associate) credit in area(s) 3
- CE credit for SLP, SW, LCPC, PT, and OT professionals
- Gateways to Opportunity credit in area E (Org. ID# B40093, Event ID# )
