Book Study: NAEYC Observation and Assessment, Volume 2 (webinars and assignments)

Learning Level 1: Introductory/Awareness

Intended Audience – ECSE/General Educators, Paraeducators

Description – This webinar series will explore the most recent book on observation and assessment from NAEYC. We will spend time covering all three sections of the book: Purposes of Observation and Assessment; Strategies for Observing and Assessment; and Assessment Practices to Support Inclusion. We will include other resources to help with observation and assessment, such as example documentation forms, schedules for observation, and exploration of a system for taking documentation for students with IEPs. Participants will work on an action plan during each meeting to include ideas of strategies and methods they’d like to implement in their setting. Each registrant accepted into the book study will be provided with the book. The confirmation email will have detailed instructions for completing the first assignment which is due BEFORE the first meeting. The assignments, which account for a portion of the total continuing education hours, will include reading sections of the book and responding to guiding questions. They are designed to foster individual reflection and analysis of the content so that each member of the group feels ready to contribute to and benefit from productive meetings with the group.
