The Creative Curriculum for Preschool: Implementation for Teachers (webinars + workshop)
Learning Level 2: Intermediate/Application
Intended Audience: ECSE and General Educators, Teacher Assistants
This highly interactive 12-hour training prepares teachers to implement The Creative Curriculum® for Preschool, 5th or 6th edition, in their classrooms. Teachers will learn about the Creative Curriculum framework, which includes guidance on what and how children learn; the physical environment; caring and teaching; and partnering with families. Teachers will become familiar with the 38 objectives for development and learning that inform every aspect of teaching. They will explore additional curriculum resources such as Mighty Minutes®, Intentional Teaching Cards™, Book Discussion Cards™, and Book Conversation Cards™ (included in optional Expanded Daily Resources). Additionally, the training will support teachers in how to implement the three main parts of a meaningful study and understand how to integrate content into daily events through intentional experiences. REQUIREMENT: All participants MUST have access to a copy of the 5th or 6th edition to participate in this training. This training will include two hours of homework. Full participation in both of the webinars, full attendance at the workshop, and completion of assignments are all required to receive a certificate.
Continuing Education – This workshop and webinar will provide 12 contact hours for the following:
- Educator License Renewal
- CDA (Child Development Associate) credit in area(s) 2
- CE credit for SLP, SW, LCPC, PT, and OT professionals
- Gateways to Opportunity credit in area D (Org. ID# B40093)
Full attendance in the workshop portion AND full participation in the webinar is required to receive a certificate.

Anna Owen
Anna Owen, M.S. Ed., is an Early Childhood Resource Specialist with STARnet Regions I & III. Anna has been involved in the field of early childhood since 2003. She received her Master’s degree from Western Illinois University in 2013. Her previous job titles include training coordinator, parent educator and preschool teacher. In her role as an Early Childhood Resource Specialist, she provides technical assistance and training to early childhood professionals and families. She is passionate about the arts and serves as the co-chair for the Creative Expressions Art Gallery that takes place biannually at the statewide Sharing A Vision conference. She provides professional development on a variety of topics related to curriculum, assessment, lesson planning, intentional interactions and much more. In her spare time, she enjoys photography and spending time with her husband and two young children. -
Emily Reilly
Emily Reilly, Early Childhood Resource Specialist with STARnet Regions I and III is a proven leader with 14 years of experience in early care and education. Emily has served in a variety of leadership roles in the field including master teacher, associate director, college instructor, trainer and IL AEYC board member. Emily presents on a variety of topics including anti-bias curriculum, project approach, inclusive practices, reflective practice, and portfolios. She is passionate about supporting adult learners in improving their practice, specifically when it comes to making sure all children and families feel a sense of belonging and community. In her spare time, she enjoys running, yoga, trying new foods, and hanging out with her family.
