Family Engagement: A Look at the Head Start Family Outcomes (Webinar)

Learning Level 1: Introductory/Awareness

Intended Audience: Administrators, ECSE and General Educators, Teacher Assistants, Family Members, Family Educators, Psychologists, Social Workers, SLP’s, OT/PT’s, Early Intervention Personnel

In this webinar, we will explore the seven Head Start Family Outcomes and how they support family engagement in early childhood. We will see how the outcomes form the foundation for family engagement for all the early childhood years. We will share information and establish connections with working professionals. We will talk about maintaining and expanding relationships between families and schools.

Continuing Education – This webinar will provide 1.5 contact hours for the following:

  • Educator License Renewal
  • CDA (Child Development Associate) credit in area(s) 4
  • CE credit for SLP, SW, LCPC, PT, and OT professionals
  • Gateways to Opportunity credit in area F (Org. ID# B40093, Event ID# )

Full participation is required to receive a certificate.

Presenter(s)

  • Bridget Meis
    Bridget Meis, M.S. Ed, is an Early Childhood Resource Specialist for STARnet Regions I & III. During her time with STARnet, she has presented on a variety of topics including: Apps and Assistive Technology, Social/Emotional development, Creative Curriculum, Teaching Strategies GOLD, Portfolios, Lesson Planning, Mathematics in Early Childhood, Science and Mathematics, STEAM and Family Engagement. Bridget has worked in the field of Early Childhood Education since 2003. She received her Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Illinois State University and her Master's degree in Early Childhood Education from Erikson Institute. Bridget has worked in a variety of early childhood programs with diverse groups of children from as young as six weeks old to children in fifth grade. Bridget has served children and families in private childcare programs and most recently with Head Start.
  • Roseann Slaght
    Roseann Slaght has worked as a Family Resource Specialist for STARnet for 23 years. Her goals are to embrace inclusive practices, and find ways to support each child in order to develop their full potential, and include parents as partners in the learning process. She is a parent of two adult men with significant disabilities. In her spare time, she is also a licensed Massage Therapist. Rose earned her degree in Child Development.
