Setting up the Physical Environment to Reduce Challenging Behaviors (webinar)

Learning Level 1: Introductory/Awareness

Intended Audience: ECSE and General Educators

This is a webinar in-service being offered prior to the four-day Pyramid Model training. The purpose of this in-service is to support teachers in identifying key physical environment components that can reduce challenging behaviors and keep children actively engaged, using Pyramid Model practices. This training will utilize current TPOT data to guide participants in developing strategies to address areas of improvement and build upon current strengths.

Continuing Education – This webinar will provide 1.5 contact hours for the following:

  • Educator License Renewal
  • CDA (Child Development Associate) credit in area(s) 3
  • CE credit for SLP, SW, LCPC, PT, and OT professionals
  • Gateways to Opportunity credit in area E (Org. ID# B40093)

Full participation is required to receive a certificate.

Presenter(s)

  • Roseann Slaght
    Roseann Slaght has worked as a Family Resource Specialist for STARnet for 23 years. Her goals are to embrace inclusive practices, and find ways to support each child in order to develop their full potential, and include parents as partners in the learning process. She is a parent of two adult men with significant disabilities. In her spare time, she is also a licensed Massage Therapist. Rose earned her degree in Child Development.
  • Emily Reilly
    Emily Reilly, Early Childhood Resource Specialist with STARnet Regions I and III is a proven leader with 14 years of experience in early care and education. Emily has served in a variety of leadership roles in the field including master teacher, associate director, college instructor, trainer and IL AEYC board member. Emily presents on a variety of topics including anti-bias curriculum, project approach, inclusive practices, reflective practice, and portfolios. She is passionate about supporting adult learners in improving their practice, specifically when it comes to making sure all children and families feel a sense of belonging and community. In her spare time, she enjoys running, yoga, trying new foods, and hanging out with her family.
