Understanding and Teaching Self-Regulation Skills (webinar)

Learning Level 1: Introductory/Awareness

Intended Audience: Administrators, ECSE and General Educators, Teacher Assistants, Family Members

Research has shown that the ability to self-regulate is one of the most important predictors of academic success and helps build relationships with others which leads to fewer behavior challenges. Join us in this introductory webinar as we take a look at stages of growth and development related to self-regulation, as well as discuss strategies to use in the classroom and connection with the IELDS.

Continuing Education – This webinar will provide 1.5 contact hours for the following:

  • Educator License Renewal
  • CE credit for SLP, SW, LCPC, PT, and OT professionals
  • Gateways to Opportunity credit in area E (Org. ID# B40093)

  • Cecilia Mintz
    Cecilia Mintz, B.S. Ed, is an Early Childhood Resource Specialist for STARnet Regions I & III. She has worked in Early Childhood since 2007. Cecilia has worked with a diverse population at Head Start. While working with Head Start she guided children with Project Approach. Cecilia worked at engaging families in their child’s education by encouraging their input on family goals involving their child. She collaborated with local education agencies on IEPs.
  • Emily Reilly
    Emily Reilly, Early Childhood Resource Specialist with STARnet Regions I and III is a proven leader with 14 years of experience in early care and education. Emily has served in a variety of leadership roles in the field including master teacher, associate director, college instructor, trainer and IL AEYC board member. Emily presents on a variety of topics including anti-bias curriculum, project approach, inclusive practices, reflective practice, and portfolios. She is passionate about supporting adult learners in improving their practice, specifically when it comes to making sure all children and families feel a sense of belonging and community. In her spare time, she enjoys running, yoga, trying new foods, and hanging out with her family.
