The Foundation of The Creative Curriculum System for Preschool (webinars + workshop)

Learning Level 2: Intermediate/Application

Intended Audience: Administrators, ECSE and General Educators, Teacher Assistants, Family Educators

Participants will engage in large- and small-group activities, interactive experiences, and individual reflection to develop an understanding of the framework of The Creative Curriculum for Preschool, how relationships are at its core, and how to identify various daily events and use them effectively. During the session participants will examine the 10 Interest Areas and explore how to make them engaging for young children. By the end of the session participants will be able to use all the volumes of The Creative Curriculum for Preschool; establish a positive social-emotional climate in their classroom; design effective classrooms; establish positive messages in the environment; and develop a daily schedule that is based on program needs and informed by the Objectives for Development and Learning. Requirement: PARTICIPANTS ARE REQUIRED TO BRING THE FOLLOWING BOOKS: The Creative Curriculum for Preschool: The Foundation (Volume 1), Interest Areas (Volume 2), and Objectives for Development & Learning (Volume 5 or 6 depending on edition). Check your local library, STARNET, or The Center’s Library to obtain these books if your program has not purchased them. Full participation in both of the webinars, full attendance at the workshop, and completion of assignments are all required to receive a certificate.

Continuing Education – This workshop and webinar will provide 12 contact hours for the following:

  • Educator License Renewal
  • CDA (Child Development Associate) credit in area(s) 2
  • CE credit for SLP, SW, LCPC, PT, and OT professionals
  • Gateways to Opportunity credit in area D (Org. ID# B40093)

Full attendance in the workshop portion AND full participation in the webinar is required to receive a certificate.

Presenter Bios


  • Bridget Meis
    Bridget Meis, M.S. Ed, is an Early Childhood Resource Specialist for STARnet Regions I & III. During her time with STARnet, she has presented on a variety of topics including: Apps and Assistive Technology, Social/Emotional development, Creative Curriculum, Teaching Strategies GOLD, Portfolios, Lesson Planning, Mathematics in Early Childhood, Science and Mathematics, STEAM and Family Engagement. Bridget has worked in the field of Early Childhood Education since 2003. She received her Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Illinois State University and her Master's degree in Early Childhood Education from Erikson Institute. Bridget has worked in a variety of early childhood programs with diverse groups of children from as young as six weeks old to children in fifth grade. Bridget has served children and families in private childcare programs and most recently with Head Start.
