Using Powerful Interactions to Support Language Development for All Children (webinar)

Learning Level 2: Intermediate/Application

Intended Audience – Administrators, ECSE and General Educators, Teacher Assistants, Family Educators, SLP’s, OT/PT’s

Description – This intermediate training will focus on the inter-relatedness between relationships and supporting children’s language development by using the 3-steps of Powerful Interactions: Being Present, Connecting and Extending Learning. Participants will use reflective practice to make connections between the content and their interactions with children as well as create an action plan for using Powerful Interactions to increase high quality language strategies.

Continuing Education – This webinar will provide 2 contact hours for the following:

  • Educator License Renewal
  • CDA (Child Development Associate) credit in area(s) 2
  • CE credit for SLP, SW, LCPC, PT, and OT professionals
  • Gateways to Opportunity credit in area D (Org. ID# B40093, Event ID# )

Full participation is required to receive a certificate.

  • Bridget Meis
    Bridget Meis, M.S. Ed, is an Early Childhood Resource Specialist for STARnet Regions I & III. During her time with STARnet, she has presented on a variety of topics including: Apps and Assistive Technology, Social/Emotional development, Creative Curriculum, Teaching Strategies GOLD, Portfolios, Lesson Planning, Mathematics in Early Childhood, Science and Mathematics, STEAM and Family Engagement. Bridget has worked in the field of Early Childhood Education since 2003. She received her Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Illinois State University and her Master's degree in Early Childhood Education from Erikson Institute. Bridget has worked in a variety of early childhood programs with diverse groups of children from as young as six weeks old to children in fifth grade. Bridget has served children and families in private childcare programs and most recently with Head Start.
  • Emily Reilly
    Emily Reilly, Early Childhood Resource Specialist with STARnet Regions I and III is a proven leader with 14 years of experience in early care and education. Emily has served in a variety of leadership roles in the field including master teacher, associate director, college instructor, trainer and IL AEYC board member. Emily presents on a variety of topics including anti-bias curriculum, project approach, inclusive practices, reflective practice, and portfolios. She is passionate about supporting adult learners in improving their practice, specifically when it comes to making sure all children and families feel a sense of belonging and community. In her spare time, she enjoys running, yoga, trying new foods, and hanging out with her family.
