Day Camp 2026: Move, Play, Learn: Using Nature Spaces as Meaningful Learning Environments

Intended Audience – Administrators, ECSE/General Educators, Family Educators, Psychologists, OT/PTs, Early Intervention

Description – The evidence keeps growing – nature is good for the body and the brain! Young children learn best when they are active, curious, and engaged with the world around them and the great outdoors provides endless opportunities for movement, wonder, and hands-on exploration. In Day Camp 2026, early childhood professionals will discuss nature-based research findings, rethink outdoor environments as meaningful learning spaces, experience some playful nature-based activities that support learning objectives, consider ways to enhance inclusivity, and (hopefully) be inspired to expand beyond the walls of the classroom to embrace outdoor education as essential for young children’s development. Continuing Education – This training will provide 5 contact hours for the following:

• Educator License Renewal
• CDA (Child Development Associate) credit in area(s) 2
• CE credit for SLP, *SW, LCPC, PT, and OT professionals
  * Social Work credit will not require passing a post-course quiz.
• Gateways to Opportunity credit in area E (Org. ID# B40093, Event ID# )
• EI Credit in the area of Families
